Bio: Alyssa is a 16-year-old girl who discovers she is connected to a long-lost elven mother. Fiercely loyal, unexpectedly brave, and a little stubborn, she begins her journey facing danger and deceit.

Pappy Oh
Role: Mentor
First Appearance: The Magik Scarf
Bio: Pappy Oh is a ageless soul, who after passing away was brought back to life through a spell his grand daughter performed (wrongly). His voice/spirit arrived back on this side in a toy jack-in-a-box.
Fun Facts:
- Favorite weapon/tool: hoe handle, axe handle, usually with the blades attached.
- Strengths: knowledge of magik, patience, and the value of time
- Weaknesses: can be swayed by money and his wife

Granny Gert
Role: Mentor
First appearance: The Magik Scarf
Bio: Granny Gert is a curmudgeon type, who after losing her husband begins gardening and trying to keep the family farm going. She is laid low by big, gloppy man-eating plants. Her life is spared when Alyssa convinces a Gryphon to give them his tears.
Fun Facts:
- Favorite weapon/tool: Iron skillet, mallet for pounding meat into edible bites
- Strengths: knowledge of healing, herbs and such
- Weaknesses: can be irritable to the point of running folks off

Karnagul/Karnagal, the dragon
Role: Antagonist
First Appearance: The Magik Scarf
Bio: Born in the Blighted Vale (*a part of the Beyonderlands), Karnagal’s lust for gold took him on a journey beneath the mountains from which he has yet to recover. In other words, he has to dig himself out. He does try in book three.
Interesting note: His name changed from book one to book three so now he is known as Karnagal. He wouldn’t be mad if you called him Karnagul though, as most names and speech types change with regions.

- His family still looks for him
