Episode Twenty: When Characters Take Over
When characters take over the story, well, what does a writer do? If you’ve ever been deep in your manuscript and suddenly realized your character has completely ignored your outline, welcome to the club. Almost every writer has experienced the moment when a character steps off the page, looks you in the eye, and says, “Actually, I’m going to do this my way.” It’s frustrating, funny, and oddly thrilling.
