As some of you may already know, I have been reading (with great joy) from The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien. His letters to family and friends and agents and publishers has been such a grand look-inside to a master’s writing life.

Highly, recommend it.

Also, as I read, I find that he penned many short stories and novelettes that filled the publishers’ book lists while he wrote the next book in his Lord of the Ring series.

One such book is this one. Written for children ages 2-6. If you are a collector, as I am, you might want to get it. I did.
