Last time, I talked about formatting. Now I want to talk about the details an author goes through with a fantasy novel especially. Like… the map. This detail is one that should not be overlooked if you have the budget.
And if you do, let me recommend my artist! Her name is Alyssa Hurlburt and she has opened up for commissions. You can find her here on YouTube.
She teaches you how to create a realistic map for your world, but me being me, I am not an artist and preferred getting her to do it because SHE IS a great artist!
The map, for me, solidifies the story. I always look at the map in fantasy books. I loved Tolkien so much, and his was the first fantasy I read, and also, The Hobbit has the best map in a fantasy book for that time (era). I will die on that hill.
If you sign up for the newsletter you can get a glimpse of the map for the Magik Scarf as I will be sharing it to my subscribers soon – be the first to see it!
