Social Media

Social media is meant to be for socializing… but not if you are a marketer…

Okay…’splain something to me.

Why is it that we are told to be social (as authors) so that people will follow us and maybe buy our books, but when we post, we are supposed to be intentional, and only post things that are professional and fit our branding?

well, maybe because it is effective?

And can we do both? At the same time?

I think this is a heavy yes. We can do all things. Be social on social media, but be professional. How? Don’t keep posting things that are not of interest to your target audience. (I mean come on- how many times do they want to see the same tired meme about climbing on a broomstick because it’s Halloween)? What does that have to do with you and your books etc?

To be fair, posting too many pet pics might not “fly” either. (Note to self)

But either way, it should grab their attention and make them stop scrolling. Be intentional!

Oh and yall peeps out there posting EVERY HOUR with images of your books are just asking for an unfollow. Nobody wants to see posts from you that often no matter who you are!

And finally, posting stupid or offensive things on social media every other hour won’t work well either. Fans are forgiving but eventually they will unfollow you due to the aggravation of reading a post that just made them mad or sad.
